The young woman in the right is Margaret Leonard ,19. She was the first White southern to participate in the Freedom Rides in the south.
Her mother was a progressive columnist for the Atlanta Journal who was fired after Margaret's arrest.
Margaret is now retired after a long career as a reporter in Florida.
