This is a page out of September's "Real Simple" magazine.  It shows ordinary objects made out of metal... LOVE this.  The purse might damage your clothes?

Nature's Art: Puffball

Image
There was so much rain this year, the puffballs on the lawn got pretty large. They look like huge marshmallows on the grass.  We just keep them there.

This is not the smartest thing I ever did, but it was fun. Yup, the helmet is crooked.

Birds or Not

Image
Howie and I had an experience last night in his pen. An opossum* was in his pen. His bark turned to his "aggressive, serious bark". The opossum tried to escape, but was too fat to fit through the lattice slats under the screened in porch. I wanted to laugh, but instead took Howie for a walk to do his business. Frank said I am the reason these critters are here.  I feed the birds and the wildlife come towards the droppings. * opposum or possum?

He's still here

I thought it was getting too cold, but he's still around. I haven't seen a robin in about a week.  All the signs of Autumn.

Last Saturday this spider was out in the open with his  bee.  I've never seen this type of spider before.  He's pretty big for these parts. Nice coloring.  We left him alone with his prize.

Frank's nephew is getting married in Mexico.  A destination wedding.  Then they are off to Hawaii for a honeymoon. I just found out we are going to Hawaii next year.  Cool. On a much sadder note, a black squirrel I've been admiring ( you don't see to many out here, most are grey) was killed... It was smushed on the road where he lived.  I hope he had some relatives.  I almost stopped the car once to take his picture he was so neat. I also saw 2 horses being affectionate to one another.  Licking each other's necks.  I know the neck is the greeting place, so it was nice to see it. Barn, well it is still there..  Ugh.
